Love & Light: Our Core Connection

For years, phrases like love and light have been labeled as New Age, misunderstood, or even feared as “demonic” by some. There’s this idea that speaking of love or light outside a traditional religious context is somehow wrong or dangerous. But here’s what doesn’t add up: how can anything rooted in true love or genuine light ever be associated with darkness?

Let’s make this make sense.

Darkness cannot be light. By definition, light illuminates, it reveals, and it breaks through even the thickest shadows. Love, real love, doesn’t hide—it shines; it frees; it brings us closer to one another and to God. Darkness cannot spread love, because darkness exists in separation and isolation, while Love unites, heals, and transforms. So, if we believe in the one who is Love, who is Light, then love and light cannot come from darkness. They can only come from the source of all that is good.

In my own journey, I’ve come to see that love and light are more than words; they are the essence of God, the language of divine connection with humanity. Jesus’ teachings were about living as love, walking as light—bringing hope, peace, and grace into the world. Love and Light are part of our original design, the “language” through which we connect back to God, and they are not something to be feared.

For me, Christianity isn’t about a rigid set of rules; it’s a way of living that embodies Love in action, Light in the darkness. It’s not about converting people to a label or ideology but being a reflection of Love itself. To live in Love and walk in Light is to embody the teachings of Jesus—not as a religion, but as a language of relationship, a language of Love.

So when I say Love and Light, it’s not about following trends or adopting “New Age” language. It’s about calling us back to the simplicity and beauty of what God is: Love that never fails, Light that no darkness can overcome. These words don’t belong to any movement or label; they belong to the Creator. And if someone’s view of Christianity or spirituality excludes love, kindness, or compassion, then I believe they’re missing the very heart of it all.

To those who misunderstand, I ask: how can Light come from darkness, or Love from hate? It’s not possible. Love and Light are pure, they’re whole, and they belong to God. Darkness cannot create them; only the One who is both Love and Light can.

Embracing Love and Light with Open Hearts

When we encounter things we don’t understand, it’s easy to react with fear or judgment. Sometimes, we’re quick to label what’s unfamiliar as “demonic” or “deception.” But perhaps, instead of running from every shadow, we’re invited to lean deeper into the heart of God, the heart of Love. Maybe there’s something beautiful waiting when we choose to see through the eyes of Love rather than fear.

Sometimes, what looks like a looming shadow is really something small—just enlarged by the way the Light hits it. When we pause, ask questions, and draw near to God (Love), we often find that what we feared was not darkness but simply an invitation to see from a new perspective. May we learn to approach the unknown with curiosity and trust, embracing and releasing Love and Light as we were always meant to.

Reflection Questions:

1. When I encounter something unfamiliar or challenging, do I respond with fear or with curiosity? How might approaching it with God’s perspective change the way I see it?

2. What are some areas in my life where I’ve labeled things as “dark” or “wrong” without seeking to understand them? Could there be an invitation to see them from a new angle?

3. How can I embody Love and Light more openly in my own life, trusting that God is guiding me in each moment?
